Struck by the flu...

Our typical Fun Friday turned out to be anything but fun. We started our journey over to Chateau Elan to have a playdate with friends and meet one of my sorority sister's new baby. Thank goodness Colton told me he didn't feel well, I could tell in his eyes he was serious and we turned around. His 102.3 fever quickly elevated to 104 degrees, we took him to urgent care & sure enough he tested positive for the flu. Bless my poor baby's heart!

I mean seriously. He is one of those sweet kids where you can tell they are sick by the look in their eyes. We are so lucky our twins get sick about once a year each, this is Colton's turn, I guess. Pitiful.

Jackson really enjoyed playing Doctor all day. At one point, we had to send him to work with Brandon, bc he was a little "too" helpful at playing doctor and poked him in the eye with the thermometer while trying to take his temperature. (-:

This gave us a chance to work on the beginning of Jackson's All About Me Project he has due for Preschool on Monday-Snowflake Style!
Meanwhile, our elf, Archie (named after the UGA Arches) was into all kinds of mischief-he was zip lining through our house when we woke up on Sat!

At first, we were so bummed-72 degrees in December and Colton has the flu. What a bummer. Then, it was still warm, but rained all day, making it a perfect movie day.

When there is only one twin sick, there is another that is well and bouncing off the walls trying to stay on Santa's Nice List! Love you, sweet, wild man!

Colton testing positive for flu makes this mama so sad! Anyone who knows us knows we like to be out & about and on the go experiencing life! We stayed in ALL DAY LONG, ventured out to look at some lights in our beautiful neighborhood & get some chinese for Netflix movie night-made bedtime pretty easy! Here's hoping to a somewhat peaceful night and rest for our sweet, sick baby Colt!

We have been loving the 70-mid 70's weather around Atlanta! It is going to be getting colder but it's been really awesome! Colton was Joseph in the Cherubs Christmas performance in front of the whole church & Jackson was a shepherd! All the kids did a fantastic job!

Election Day 2012!!!!!!!!

It's Election Day 2012! Barack Obama or Mitt Romney-who will it be? I will preface this by saying, It's my blog, and I will write what I wanna! I try not to voice my political views on Facebook, to tons of friends, etc. but the main purpose for my blog is for J & C to look back upon one day & I want them to know what their Mama & Daddy were like in all stages of our life & throughout their childhood. 

For as long as I can remember, I have been extremely interested in politics. Maybe it was something about growing up in Virginia & trips to the White House/Washington, D.C., but even in 5th grade, I was adamant about running & winning for SCA President. My favorite subjects are writing & history. Those were my specialities for teaching middle school-language arts & social studies. During my college years at UGA, I wrote an essay in my Political Science class that my professor told me was one of the best pieces of writing he had ever read from one of his students. Passionate about politics, I am! I don't think Brandon was as passionate, but as he has grown older and is a business owner, he got a lot more interested in what would be best for not only our family, but our country. We were born into the Ronald Reagan & Nancy era & I was fascinated with them by age 3. Seriously. I loved all the Bush Family, Barbara, Laura the librarian, the general wholesomeness of The Republican party. 

However, through the years, I have found myself, and Brandon moving closing to the middle. We have several close friends who are gay. Before I had close friends who were gay, I was 100% in the republican mindset that marriage is meant for the sanctity of a man and a woman. After all, that is what the bible says. However, that was before I had gay friends. Who the heck am I to say who they are married to or in a relationship with? I am all about being being healthy, happy, prosperous, & fulfilled in life. You only get one life, so you should be happy in it! Healthcare-wow, did I have to do some research. We own a family business & have no dental insurance & pay crazy $ for our healthcare. Obama's plan sure seemed to sound good. But so does Romney's plan for taxes. This election was extremely hard for me to actually tap the button for Mitt Romney. Normally, it takes me .5 seconds to go through and click Republican all the way down the ticket. This time was different. I felt as though I was voting to take away a freedom, a luxury from some of my friends. I felt guilty. There are things we don't like about Obama. There are things we don't like about Romney. There are things we like from BOTH candidates. Big difference from how I felt voting for McCain in 2008-I was all in 100%! When it came down to it, it is a right & privilege to vote-people literally DIED so we could have this right and to not exercise your right to vote is frankly, unacceptable as an American. I'm proud we voted, even though I could see views from both sides, you have to do what is right for your family, future, & children. In the meanwhile, I am getting excited about the polls coming in so far, but will be much more empathic this year towards the other party from this election year on.

In much lighter news, I had a fabulous day off with my sweet boys! We hung out in our pajamas and cleaned for 4 hours before the housekeepers arrived. Funny how that works, right? Organized for 4 hours & did laundry together. Then we had a CFA lunch date & went shopping for some toys & crafts. The boys have a Turkey project due Friday & we started night 1 of the project-painting! When we did Rose/Thorn for the day, all 3 of us said painting our turkeys was the best part of the day!

Jax had a sick day Monday, but he sure seemed fine when he got to go to brunch with Mama & Daddy at J. Christopher's!

Early Voting Rocks!

 First Sat. of the month-the boys made Thanksgiving napkin holders for Me!

 Going to an antique car show with the family after a long run on the golf course-it was absolutely gorgeous Fall/November weather-82 degrees!

 Brandon mounted a flat screen on a tree at our neighbor's bonfire Sat. night-was so funny & neat!

 Chad went to the groomer before our family photo shoot-he looks so adorable with his UGA bandana but got the sad news that he is missing an ear drum-OUCH!

 Dropped the hubby off with his buddies at the Georgia Dome-Falcons ended up beating Cowboys leaving us undefeated! WAHOOO! Go Falcons-Rise Up!

 Daddy spent the night at a friend's house closer to the city, so the boys took full advantage and slept in our bed last night-love them to pieces!

Trick or Treat Traditions

This year marked our 5th annual BridgeMill Halloween with the Oliver Family! This year was extra special, bc this was our first year actually living in the neighborhood & it was our best Halloween yet! 

We kicked off the day with the Fall Party at Preschool. The kids had a blast wrapping their teachers up as mummies! 

Festivities started around 4pm with Brandon surprising the boys with a hayride for them & their friends-bonus-he put lights around it, which they thought was so cool!
